This is where the world begins.
Foundations is the live, in-person entry point into The Room, Red Hot Annie's ongoing world of burlesque, confidence, presence, movement and creative development.
You do not need dance experience.
You do not need a stage name.
You do not need to arrive confident.
You just need to be willing to enter the room.
Over four live Sunday experiences, you'll begin developing the foundational mechanics behind:
- burlesque movement and stage presence
- audience connection
- confidence while being seen
- pacing, timing and musicality
- character and creative identity
- improvisation and play
- entering, occupying and commanding space
- translating your personality into performance
Four Sundays. One progression.
Each Sunday has its own focus, so you can begin at any point.
Across your four sessions, however, something larger starts to happen.
You stop simply learning movements and begin discovering how you move, how you hold attention, what kind of performer you may be, and what becomes possible when you stop trying to disappear.
Your Sundays may include:
- guided movement and burlesque technique
- character and archetype exploration
- musicality and timing
- stage presence exercises
- improvisation
- audience connection
- individual feedback
- choreography
- ensemble development
- creative development
- immersive production rehearsals
Sometimes, the rehearsal is the class.
Red Hot Annie and Vaudezilla are actively creating live entertainment throughout the year.
That means some Sundays take place inside the development of a real production.
You may find yourself learning choreography one week, exploring character the next, and stepping inside an immersive rehearsal for an upcoming live event the week after that.
This is intentional.
You are not learning performance in a vacuum.
You are learning inside a working creative environment where concepts are being built, rehearsed and prepared for real audiences.
You do not need to be cast in a production to participate in an immersive rehearsal.
The rehearsal itself is part of the learning experience.
You don't have to want to perform.
There is no pressure to perform publicly.
Some people come because they want to feel more confident in their bodies.
Some want a creative practice.
Some want to become more comfortable being seen.
Some want to develop as performers.
And some discover, once they're inside the room, that they want much more.
All of those reasons belong here.
Want to perform?
Foundations is also where Red Hot Annie begins getting to know you as a performer.
This is where we can see how you move, collaborate, take direction, develop character, respond creatively and work inside an ensemble.
Participants who demonstrate interest, consistency and readiness may be invited into deeper training, choreography, act development, rehearsals, filmed concepts, creative projects and future performance opportunities.
Paid casting is separate from enrollment and is never guaranteed.
As new productions are booked, performers are selected from the larger Red Hot Annie and Vaudezilla creative community based on the needs of each project.
Foundations gives you a place to begin.
